Which is preferable - doing business with someone who appears to be perfectly reasonable but charges maybe a little too much, or buying the same item at least 20% cheaper from a pretty dreadful person?

Once upon a time I could afford to stick to my principles. These days I have to compromise, and I don't like it very much.

@MarkAsser
it’s not just that they’re less expensive because that’s not always the case. For some things, the grocery store is cheaper. But the way they really have me hooked is that I don’t have to drive from store to store looking for what I want, wasting hours of time and wasting fuel. That’s where they get me.
@TitaniumArtNerd Are you talking about Amazon? I wasn't, but a lot of people seem to think I was.
@MarkAsser Oh yes, I was. I’d read the comments and gave a more global it. I guess if I can afford to pay a little more, particularly to a family-own business instead of corporate owned, I tend to do that. Where I used to live, I went to the family owned pharmacy, grocery, and hardware store because in a big city, I could give myself a hometown feeling. They l would say hello to me by name when I walked into the store. I prefer that, and paid more for it. I don’t have places like that where I live at the moment.
