XDA claim they're a "leading tech publication".

They published an article titled: "Why I like Linux on my Steam Deck but not my desktop"

-> Uses tiny and basically unsupported obscure Linux distribution to make a case against it on the desktop.

-> Also thinks somehow Proton is only on Steam Deck?

Please, if you're going to publish a Linux article, get your writers to do more than 1 minute research into it.

@gamingonlinux People need to learn the difference between "this is different" and "this is bad".
@thomholwerda YES and not to install some random ass Linux distro by 1 person and expect it to work the same as Windows

@gamingonlinux Yes! But that's also partly the community's fault for insisting on recommending jank Arch-based distributions to newcomers for some reason.

Fedora, Mint, or Ubuntu. That's what you offer to newcomers. Anything else is going to be problematic.

@thomholwerda @gamingonlinux I tend to agree with this point (like use major distributions to start with). I use Ubuntu since 2007. 3 months ago i installed Manjaro on spare (128GB) SSD that was installed on the motherboard and not used and I did switch back to Ubuntu only once to find files of my old project. Nothing wrong with Ubuntu, but I think Manjaro is now mature enough for normal user.
@thomholwerda @gamingonlinux But it might be as well, that after years of using Ubuntu, things are just easy for me to switch to.

@stamberry @thomholwerda @gamingonlinux How dare you not count Arch as a major distribution... Just wait until I open my terminal to get out the pitchforks and torches!!!

😂

@tizilogic Oh no, I definitely wouldn't dare to say that. I started installing Arch, of course, I ended up with Manjaro just because of magic, that happened after hours fighting with not working network.
