Doing some balcony birdwatching right now and I can’t figure out if what I’m hearing is a bird or a dog with a squeaky toy.
Well! So far have spotted an eagle and a crow. And I bet neither of them are making that squeaky sound.
@CatEditorial Depending on the squeaky toy, it *could* be an eagle; we have a bald eagle nest near us, and they make some pretty amusing noises (especially as babies! but adults too). https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Bald_Eagle/sounds
Bald Eagle Sounds, All About Birds, Cornell Lab of Ornithology

The Bald Eagle has been the national emblem of the United States since 1782 and a spiritual symbol for native people for far longer than that. These regal birds aren’t really bald, but their white-feathered heads gleam in contrast to their chocolate-brown body and wings. Look for them soaring in solitude, chasing other birds for their food, or gathering by the hundreds in winter. Once endangered by hunting and pesticides, Bald Eagles have flourished under protection.

@eliotedits Ha! Yes, could be. I love the way eagles talk to each other. It’s this astonishingly musical chatter.
