here’s a noob fediverse question, if that’s a Mastodon post, then why couldn’t it just be linked directly in Lemmy? I thought that was part of the point of the activitypub protocol.
CoderKatMastodon style posts are in a different format from the tree structured “Reddit style” posts. Kbin has support for them (they call it microblogs) but I don’t think Lemmy does.
Of course, you could link it with a normal direct link instead of a photo, but I don’t think that’s what you were referring to and screenshots have the advantage of having embedded support (I’m actually not sure if Mastodon links have a preview function here).
I think I understand 1/3 of all comments on here but I love it.

I think they’re saying the way Mastodon displays posts isn’t compatible with Lemmy’s interface.
On the flip side, you can easily post screenshots/images on Lemmy, so it makes it roundabout but easier at the same time.
They’re also saying there’s another website named Kbin that does/might support Mastodon posts.
You’d think that maybe it do work that way but it don’t
gotcha - it’s really interesting the amount of potential for integration with all of these platforms, since it’s not like they care about losing users from a link - hopefully support is added! thanks!
