It's a good point, well-made.
Meta/Facebook only cares about users in that they have the average number of eyes (under two) that can be captured for advertising impressions; and have a carefree attitude towards their privacy and metadata, allowing more precise targeting of said ads.

In fact, given the prevalence of bots on social media, they seem to only care that users *might* have eyes that can be promised to the corporate overlords.

The old adage holds ever-true: If the product is free, you're the product.
