OGJester has moved@CasaChiChi for me, the most permanently traumatizing thing about Trump is that he exposed the real character of 1/3 of the adults in this country. Deep down, I know that they were always like that before Trump, but I was able to overlook it. The genie is out of the bottle now; it’s something that can’t ever be unseen.
CasaChiChi@OGjester Sadly I agree. it's made me realize how dangerous tribalism is, because I don't know what else it could be! My sensible, educated and kind sister and BIL are Trumpers! But the thing is my BIL especially is a hard core republican. He wouldn't vote outside the party for any reason - hence his support for Trump. He might prefer a more sane republican but if Trump is the nominee he will vote for him.
So, I think that is part of it. Along with closet bigots that can now proudly be bigots.
@CasaChiChi I think almost everyone has Trumpers in their extended family. I gave mine a pass up until Jan 6; those that were still with him after that are dead to me.
