I'm very concerned that my personality and... ways... are not anything additive or positive in my friends' lives. I wish I knew better how to contribute.

I wish I knew HOW to make someone's day better. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm pretty sure it's not going on social media and posting, "You. Yes, you, the one reading this. You matter."

That's just a cheap easy Hallmark card you filled out to the world.

@pendragon The source, context, and perceived authenticity of the message matter just as much as the words themselves, right? Hallmark cards ring hollow partially as a result of their mass manufactured nature, and the resulting context. A friend reaching out in earnest using the same kinds of words can have a much different (and much more positive) effect.
@mechanicalotter I personally feel that messages don't mean a lot if they're not personalized, if they're not something expressly given to me instead of broadcasted to the world at large. If it's for everyone, I don't feel that amazing if I matter to them just as much as, say, the leader of the Proud Boys
@pendragon
The nice thing about your friends is that they didn't become *your* friends without your personality and ways to begin with. I enjoy spending time with you, and then you get to be your strutty himbo (and yet very earnest and sensitive) himbo self and my day is better for it. So if you want to make my day better quit using social media share a cocktail with me already!
@discojesus Yeah let's go get a cocktail, damn!
