I am currently dealing with a great deal of property management stress involving obfuscating the number of foster cats currently residing with me while they barge into my life to work on the gas lines and once again I am so mad that it's not possible for a single adult like me on a modest salary at a skilled job to actually own a house and not have to put up with this shit for the sake of HELPING MY COMMUNITY.
Also I've tested negative for covid but I definitely picked up some kind of respiratory unpleasantness over the past week and I do not like it.
Also I'm both angry that there was a time not that long ago when I could have absolutely been able to afford a home on my salary AND aware that I totally would not have been given a mortgage as a single woman, and "well actually I'm nonbinary" would not have helped.
The current ridiculous state of housing costs is absolutely part of capitalism trying its damnedest to turn feminism into a monkey's paw. "Oh, women want to work, do they? Then I guess we'll just treat everything from costs to wages with the assumption that every household has two incomes!"
My brain is very good at taking small, personal problems and plugging them into a whole cultural zeitgeist of anger.
Also no offense to anyone here who may fall into that category but people I know who are a few years older than me who are like "Oh I bought my house in 2008/2009 it was super easy" when I'm complaining about 2023 housing problems can DIAF.
@trixter Every time I see the whole "for what you pay in rent, you should just get a mortgage!" I want to plunge sharp objects into spongy things.
