Facebook joined up with Cambridge Analytica to play a huge part in spiking the 2016 election & turn all our parents’ brains to cracked bowls of screamgravy.
I fucking hate Musk but that shit is worse than anything he’s done.

@catvalente musk is in part a product of zuckerberg. the spike in far right rhetoric is clearly something musk himself has bought into and lead to the figure he is now. he was always garbage, of course, but the sort of shit facebook helped push has made him all the more extreme
that brand of bullshit also fits his audience really well: assholes who are attracted to successful-presenting strongmen to idolize
without it he'd just be another rich idiot doing bad shit, but not attracting attention
