The modern Lego robotics kits all seem way too simplistic. They're basically just a brick with motors connected directly to wheels, with barely any drive chain or interesting mechanisms.

I wonder if digital electronics is really a good fit for Lego? Maybe what they should be doing is more like steampunk automata. I have very little interest in buying yet another supercar, but I'd probably sell a kidney for a fully-functional Lego Difference Engine or Antikythera machine.
