This law is horrifying. It doesn't just affect people under 18, although that’s bad enough. All "sexually oriented" material is now banned from libraries, for all persons. This covers any book that contains "representations or descriptions" of sexual intercourse, homosexuality, lesbianism, and even buttocks or breasts. If your book describes a breast or a bum, it's banned from libraries in Mississippi.

How many people noticed that Mississippi is attempting to make it impossible for minors to borrow *any* eBooks via library systems? https://bookriot.com/hoopla-overdrive-libby-now-banned-for-those-under-18-in-mississippi/

This law will never stand up under the first amendment, but it’s a measure of what the fascists want to achieve, and in the meantime it’ll cause enormous disruption.
@bodhipaksa will it never stand though? "don't say gay" stood pretty well so far in federal courts.
the first amendment, as all rights in the united states, only consistently applies to rich white people.

@Yuvalne @bodhipaksa

Totally true. But if "vendors" is being used the same way it was when I worked in print publishing (and I admit it might not be)...

...this time they're picking a fight with *very* rich white people. Like Amazon.
