Just noticed, that OsmAnd+ now is in the store with a ~ instead of a + - Lemmy.world

Hi there, it is quite some time since I last installed the OsmAnd+ app. Now, today I look into the store and see OsmAnd~ with OsmAnd+ all over the description and no hint on why the name changed. I know, that this is not a store related question per se, as F-Droid is not respinsible for the descriptions and naming, however, I thought maybe some folks here can get me updated on what I missed the last years behind my rock… Thanks in advance for any help!

I’ve been wondering this for a long time too actually. Perhaps the name was taken?

I found this commit with name changing.

But no further clarification, only:

Special thanks for digging that one out!
So that’s when they introduced wavy roads
I think it is renamed to distiguish the paid play store version from the free f-droid version which is technically the same app.
Osmand+ is the paid play store version, Osmand~ is the open source version. I believe there’s no significant differences.
Osmand open source verion does not support android auto
