My post-work bounty: strawberries from Herrle's and montmorency cherries from St Jacobs Market. Plus a pic of an important sign.

Apparently, I need to make a trip to Herrle’s for strawberries. Those look delicious! And you’re right about the sign…if we continue to lose farmland in Ontario, we will be in deep trouble in this province, and right across the country.

@KimberlyN YES YOU DO! I made my best batch of strawberry jam from a couple of their punnets a few weeks ago. These are a different varietal, but they are fragrant and I hope they'll be just as good.

And yes re: sign. I could go on a rant about how we had a chance to vote him out, but...

@cardamomaddict

Right? A combination of an apathetic electorate and a divided left. I’m still apoplectic that we’re stuck with him during such a pivotal moment in our history.
Every day it seems there’s another revelation about another horrible decision or policy created by this government. I was born in Ontario, and I alternate between being angry and heartbroken. 🙁

The majority of Ontario farmer's product is animal food and meat. They are essentially taking cheap, safe, sustainable plant products and using the bodies of millions of intelligent creatures to refine it into an expensive, scarce luxury product that harms the consumer's body, the producer's local environment, and the entire planet's climate. This sign is propaganda for capitalists that abuse animals. All the creatures we create are our children and all of them are owed unconditional love and protection. The experiences of animals are real and matter. Their suffering is identical in nature to our own. It harms us when we take pleasure in cruelty and violence.
No animal ag, then no climate change and no heart disease. Some farmers are killing us.
