Kind of telling that you conflate science fiction with dystopias. It doesn't have to be dystopia. That's just what it's been lately.

I think it says more about society than it does sci fi. I haven't read it yet, but #JohnVervaeke co-wrote a book proposing that the proliferation of zombie movies is a manifestation of a loss of meaning a lot of us feel today. That makes sense to me.
