Twitter is no longer the town square. Twitter now has a wall around the square. Only members can view the speakers in the square. Government agencies should stop using Twitter since it is not open to the general public.
@LotsOfStatic517 @leo Agreed. Twitter is trying to charge admission to get into the town square. Governments should never have relied on Twitter in the first place.
@LotsOfStatic517 towns don't even have town squares anymore..
@LotsOfStatic517 Twitter was never the town square.
@LotsOfStatic517 Unfortunately, we’ll never have a town square again… they died when the cities grew so large, they swallowed their neighbors. What’s worse, we no longer have universal truth/shared knowledge. We are polarized by ideological news silos, sensationalized news cycles, and confirmation biased fueled algorithms. We have to learn to thrive within our own communities without dehumanizing opposing views. I know, I know, easier said than done.
@LotsOfStatic517 Twitter is a wormhole full of junk being pulled into the abyss
@LotsOfStatic517
NL government has their own Mastodon with many agencies already on it
