I want one source of truth for all my personal data that works with TBD decentralized identities (DIDs) and Solid's pods supporting the following apps/protocols:
- ActivityPub for content syndication
- OpenEHR for health data
- open fitness tracking data

And allow for secure fine grained privacy controls with a usable interface on mobile, APIs and Web.

Is this really asking too much? ;)

I was looking at my Twitter history and found me talking about Solid and Inrupt (and funnily Mastodon) in 2018 here:

“Relatedly, I have been underwhelmed by ActivityStreams and its ecosystem (including Mastodon). Yesterday's press releases about TBL's Inrupt and Solid efforts are welcomed, but I know so little yet. Anyone else poked around?”

Twitter
I am also sad that TBD is basically reinventing Solid ideas with DWN, DWA, etc instead of building on top of Solid to make a decentralized web more likely instead of trying to *dominate* something.

@SusanPotter I'd be glad just to have a single identity that covers all of my public ActivityPub activity. I don't want my Kbin/Lemmy profile to be separate from my Mastodon profile.

I'm less interested in shared storage for public AND private data, though I can see advantages and I already use third party storage for private/secret data.

@BoydStephenSmithJr ultimately data silos make it hard to manage for most users which is why I think Solid is the better approach personally.
@SusanPotter we are no doing exactly that (yet) that definitely exploring in a similar direction at cedalio.com. Love to hear your thoughts

@SusanPotter tbh, having worked at Inrupt, I was increasingly seeing companies see solid pods as a GDPR get out of jail free card: it's not our data, we don't need to protect/respect it, it's the users data, they manage it

I think Solid could be good, but it can't just be highly disparate "maybe data" without enforcement of data schemas on write, tools for developers to publish their data schemas & vocabs, and storage-local compute so you don't need to trust that your data will remain safe
