Hey everyone I did a cartoon for the Guardian about why Mastodon is my favourite microblogging site. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jul/07/twitter-is-burning-bluesky-is-smug-where-is-the-best-place-to-do-your-pathetic-doomscrolling
Twitter is burning, Bluesky is smug. Where is the best place to do your pathetic doomscrolling?

Here is First Dog on the Moon’s handy guide to the dystopian social network you should be on

The Guardian
@firstdogonthemoon All day, I have had one reply on Mastodon. I'm sending messages into a void. I'm not here to send, I'm no 'influencer'. I'm here to connect. And it's really, really hard

@TheBossRoss @firstdogonthemoon Hello, fellow human 💜

I’ve found that using, following and interacting with people on hashtags has led to many replies and connections here

@niphette @firstdogonthemoon Hello there, thank you for the tipp. The one reason I love social media (apart from its people) is the variety of topics, news, opinions, stories thrown at me every day. Things you don't even look for. I really rather don't create lists or follow hashtags. I'm not here for just one topic. Does this make sense?
@TheBossRoss @firstdogonthemoon Totally! In that case I suggest following as many people as possible who seem interesting to you, maybe start by browsing the trending posts on the explore section and following the accounts you see. Also @lisamelton is a great follow as she boosts a lot of topical toots! Mastodon doesn’t have an algorithm that feeds you news or guesses what you would like, so we have to build our own feeds out a bit more :)
@niphette @TheBossRoss @firstdogonthemoon Thanks so much for the recommendation! 💖
