Who's this? An imposter!

What’s worse is that they’re all missing the hyphen.
No no, that’s Ezra Spiderman, Saul’s kid
That name was taken…
These ones are probably part of the Avongers
This is me with my own username trying to figure out which one to use and if I can merge them.
Same. I use both lemmy.ml and lemmy.one. mostly use lemmy.one now since lemmy.ml is not loading properly for me, probably because of the massive influx of users into the same instance, overwhelming the server.
Spiderman into the lemmyverse…
Missed opportunity to not say fediverse
This is probably one thing that Bluesky does well – you have the option (and are encouraged) to use your own domain name as a username, and you can do so without having to run an instance.
So begins the clone war…

I’ll sometimes search for an acc I want to follow and they have 5 different accounts with different fedi addresses. I know I want the Mastodon account but often there’s no indication which one is Mastodon, which one is Pixelfed which one lemmy etc in the name.

So you end up with account@mastodon account@pixelfed [email protected] in the best case.

And account@instancename1 account@instancename2 account@instancename3 in the worst case.

And they all have the same icon and belong to the same person

Not the threesome we envisioned, but the threesome we get and love. May your feddiverse variants be as majestic as you are, and shitpost as vivaciously through one another.
This is why I don’t like that the current apps all hide the instance
In connect there is an option to always show the instance.

(swapping apps) Liftoff seems to show username@non-local-instances by default, but omits the instance if the user is on your instance.

I didn’t find anything helpful in Jerboa for this use case.

There are undefined impostors among us
