@yassie_j American media can’t help but frame stories as rivalries if not battles. Think how often American journalists resort to the language of violence and war when talking business and politics: “on the firing line,” “fires back,” “attacks,” “declares war on,” “targets,” “takes aim on,” “to combat,” “soldiered on,” “battleground state,” etc etc etc. Everything is rivalry. Everything is competition, war. It’s the very core of American culture imho. Not surprising journos reflect that culture.
