AMP@compsonscurse if it works, it’s valid! I will often roll the tone knob off on my bass to get the best tracking for my octave pedal. I think it’s less likely to pick up the wrong note if you eliminate the overtones/emphasize the fundamental.
@ampthebassplayer I was actually going for a distorted cello kind of sound, for a very slow part I play a bit high on the fretboard. It actually works, if you're careful how you pluck the strings (I usually play with a pick, so I literally caress them with the tip so that there won't be any attack. It actually surprised me that it sounds better like that than when played finger style).
