With the new “Magic Import” convenience feature, Klarna now wants to get its existing customers to voluntarily disclose their own shopping profiles. The new feature is intended to bring together all online orders in one central location. Regardless of whether they were settled via Klarna or not.

For this to work, users must grant “Magic Import” full access to their own email account. Here, Klarna’s smart algorithms then scan new emails for order confirmations, shipping notifications and pickup messages. However, not every email account can be used for Magic Import; so far, only Gmail and Outlook accounts are compatible.

Klarna justifies the provision of the new function, among other things, with reference to alternative delivery locations such as grocery stores, parcel stations or even click & collect stations, which would be highly popular with its own customer base.
