Recently bought a 13 pro max for the cameras and IS - is there anyway to tone down the excessive digital sharpening? - Lemmy.world

Using the great camera/video program Cinema P3 (filmic pro is now subscription based), though the videop from any app are so, so sharpened. Thanks

It’s frustrating how aggressive it is, only some 3rd party apps avoid it.

I only know of photo apps, like Halide, that will not do the iPhone processing. I have to hope that some video apps do the same. Sorry!

Welcome to a world of hurt, a lot of people have been appalled before you and many too, have complained to Apple. Unfortunately there is no way to disable it.

Wait until you see the ugly oil painting effect when using the 3x zoom camera. It’s horrible.

The only way to avoid it is using third party camera apps or shooting in Apple pro-raw with the native camera, that way the effects are not as aggressive.

Probably the iPhone’s biggest downside. I recommend Halide as a camera replacement.

I have the iPhone 14 Pro and the sharpening is even worse there unless you shoot in ProRAW
