@threeofus definitely a long history here, from what scraps I've been able to gather, Ukrainians were the original 'Rus' people and Peter the 'great' forcibly changed the Muscovy people to claim to be 'Rus' in order to have a claim on what is now Ukrainian land.
In any case internal Russian propaganda pushes the idea Russia will conquer everything.
@threeofus I don't want to be a vector of misinformation though so please look into it yourself haha.
Though everyone thought Russia would take over in 3 days and Zeleansky would run away so...that changes the original risk calculation doesn't it?
@Azih so essentially Russia has always had its eyes on Ukraine. I guess it’s Putin’s reaction to the collapse of the USSR and his desire to have a legacy as he closes out his career / life.
And thank you for taking the time to educate me 😊
@threeofus that's what I've been able to gather. The tsar is getting old and wants a crowning achievement to his legacy, and Ukraine is the European jewel. There's also the idea that Russia is the last classic empire and needs to do empire things to make sense.
I think it needs to disintegrate myself.
