Seeing a lot of information professionals talking about signing up for Threads, an app that is not available in the EU due to its lax approach to data protection.
I spent many years working to convince library and information professionals that they should be using open source software if they care about protecting their institutional data and their user data so I already knew that they don't actually care about this stuff but it's wild to see it laid out so clearly.
@simonxix just been talking about this, I had completely missed it launching and I'm very glad that various other people had done the thinking before I saw it. Seriously not good. And you can't delete your account without nuking your Instagram either, which doesn't seem reasonable.
