I’m noticing threads is missing quite a few features #Meta #threads #fediverse #mastodon

This is bad I’m missing the following features I’m used to from Mastodon:
1) Hashtags
2) Edit button
3) Federated Feed (ActivityPub for the fediverse)
4) more than 1 link (4 on mastodon stock)
5) verified profiles this relies on IG for verification where as Mastodon does link verification to a site I own
6) No direct messaging

It’s incredibly basic and not in a good way but I’m only there to see how I can migrate my IG following to the #fediverse eventually when it’s possible #meta #threads

@chiefgyk3d I think Mastodon could potentially learn something about onboarding from what I'm seeing. After playing with it, all of the features are hard to conceptualize for some people fielding comments from people.

Or: They might already have a lot of these features ready to go but are going to drip them onto their users iteratively

@chiefgyk3d 100% rushed out the gate and will be in rapid improvement mode from here for sure. The execs and staff working on it have said as much.

@chiefgyk3d No idea. I was just saying I was surprised they didn't do something like that. They already link off to Instagram. Seems odd to me.

Maybe it'll come when federation does?

@chiefgyk3d I have to agree. Hoping that they federate so people who dont want to come to mastodon, I can still interact with. I set up a profile to point to my account here basically.

@jphj agreed because I did talk to a few people that only really used IG, and there are too many purists I think that forget we have a lot of everyday average people as friends who really don’t care about meta… as much as they should

@chiefgyk3d I agree. That would be the one plus of federation for Threads. But personally its a landing page for people to follow me here. I can not convice people to care about meta lol

@elessar I mean can you blame them? We didn’t know if Twitter will be off next year or next week 🤣🤣
