A member went rogue, deleted two branches of the code, published a paper in their own name on the arxiv using data from the collaboration and maybe corrupted some data.
From my understanding, none of the damage is irreversible (yet) but damage control is ongoing.

@jackharman First time I've heard of such a thing. There's not much point in doing this because it's an immediate end to your career. The preprint paper will be taken down and they'll probably be expelled from the collaboration.
@DiegoBeghin yeah I would have thought it was pretty self-destructive! Especially in an industry which is so reliant on collaboration

@yarrriv It's a big collaboration, with universities from all over the world. The person who went rogue isn't from my former institute.
