War Games was a hit 40 years ago, having come out in June. US President Ronald Reagan saw it, asked an aide, “Is that true?” & became so gripped with the idea of hackers starting World War 3 that he ordered top secret screenings as security briefings for all senior US government personnel.

His preoccupation with the movie seems to have bolstered his belief in his Star Wars initiative.
