Preeeetty sure you want that first 'of' to be 'than' instead, it reads as the exact opposite of what I'd expect as it is.

I just read that aloud to my mom. There was definitely something in both of our godamn eyes but midway through that story. My grandfather was might have fought beside them. I know he was in that part of the world. SMH
