@Lyle Since our elected representatives serve the needs of their donor class, there has been little imperative for change. It's been going on for so long now, that the problems become intertwined to the point where they're almost chicken and egg problems.

Housing needs to be fixed, but in order for that, transportation needs to be fixed, and so on and so forth. It's to recognize that housing must be universal. I believe in four universals: Housing, Healthcare, Technology, and Education.
