Since the #Steam sale is still ongoing, what are some #games BEST on #steamdeck? I’d rather play AAA games on my PS5, but if there are some games that benefit from being on a handheld, I’m interested to hear recommendations. Also interested in other games that aren’t on PS5 or Switch. My Steam library is already quite extensive, but I pretty much stopped PC gaming when the pandemic began.

@simovirtanen it's my go to Tetris Effect machine
@sarcevic Tetris Effect is great! Really loved it with PSVR and did return to it relatively recently and got some harder PS trophies. Won’t necessarily double dip to play it on the Deck, though.
@simovirtanen Oregon Trail
@matias A classic! Haven’t played it, though. I have, however, played Organ Trail.
@simovirtanen I love playing AstLibra and Cassette Beasts on mine
@TheTripleDee Both look like my jam. Wish-listed! Thanks!
@simovirtanen want to hear also! I have Xbox instead of PS, but just ordered the Deck from the Summer Sale 😁
@simovirtanen I mostly use my Deck for open world games (Cyberpunk, Death Stranding, Elder Scrolls) since it’s nice suspending the game so I can play somewhere else
@SmileyRiley Oh wow, I would need to be fully concentrated to be able to play Elden Ring. Can’t imagine playing it on the go, but I’ve heard the game’s performance is great on Steam deck. I was thinking of trying out some older open world games I’m yet to play from my library, like Mad Max, Arkham City, and Mafia 2 Definitive Edition.

@simovirtanen Half Life 1 and 2 and Portal 1 and 2 all had their controls reworked to take full advantage of the deck, so probably them. For non-PS5, I hear Hi-Fi Rush is good, plus there's the original Halos.

For AAA games, you can also stream from your PS5 to the deck, if you end up loving the ergonomics and extra buttons.

@jonas_trostle Hi-fi Rush definitely on my wantlist. May wait for its price to go down a bit. Really considering replaying Half-Life 2 for the nth time. 😅 Been a while since I played through the Portal 2 campaign!

I’ve heard from a friend that he uses Steam deck mostly as a PS5 remote play device.

@simovirtanen I love playing Rocket League, Trackmania and Hades every so often. Used it to play stuff like The Witcher 3, Detroit Become Human, Psychonauts 2, Spiderman Remastered and Outer Wilds. I haven’t played at for a long time and with Steam Deck I’m finally getting back to so I have some catching up to do…
@sike Wish there was an straightforward way to install games from EGS, because that’s where I bought Hades! Was actually eyeing on Psychonauts 2 - may wait for a deeper discount, though. Detroit and Spider-Man great suggestions both. Outer Wilds surprised me by not being my cup of tea. Witcher 3 I’m interested in, but feel like I need to play at least a bit of Witcher 2 from my backlog before giving it a chance (have played a bit of W1).
@simovirtanen Tetris Effect indeed. I also use it to play Octopath Traveler II. It's perfect for this modern retro-styled RPG (i reckon it's great for a lot of other Japanese RPG's too)
@niels Yeah, expecting the Deck to become a JRPG machine. Would like to get some Trails-games as a fan of Trails in the Sky, but the sale prices for those games are still a bit steep considering my backlog. I’ve heard Octopath 2 is excellent and I never gave a try to the first game due to its lukewarm reception, so I’m definitely keeping an eye on it.
@simovirtanen Yes, I think it's perfect for Trails In The Sky. I finished the first one a long time ago and started the second one. Haven't tried it yet on Steam Deck. The discount on the third (and the modern games too) are usually not very steep indeed. But I have to finish two first anyway.
