Gowdy, Marjorie - Horse Latitudes | Moonstone Arts Center
Marjorie Gowdy writes at home in the Blue Ridge mountains of Callaway, VA. Her poetry has been published in a number of journals, including the international Friends Journal, Artemis, Streetlight, Dead Mule School of Southern Literature, Roanoke Review, Clinch River Review, Moonstone Press anthologies, and 2023 Centennial Anthology of the Poetry Society of Virginia. She has three chapbooks: Inflorescence: The Pasture at Rest, from Finishing Line Press; Cowgirl by Choice, an online microchap at origamipoetry.com, and this publication from Moonstone Press, Horse Latitudes. Her essays are included in Katrina: Mississippi Remember (2007). Life in the Blue Ridge has informed my writing for decades, including my recent poetry. Even when I lived on the Gulf Coast, I spent time with the dark sand brought down by rivers from the Appalachian Mountains. And now, finally, I am back in my native land.
