Elon Musk supports eliminating voting rights for people without children

Critics have accused Mr Musk of holding eugenecist views about populations

@lovelylovely wtf!? So if we can't vote we don't need to pay local taxes to help the schools too then right? And public parks that kids use? Teachers that have a direct impact on a child's life but no kids of their own don't get to vote either? I'm so confused how anyone would think this makes sense.
@CaffeinatedKayla @lovelylovely I have heard some political analysis on NPR where they say that this is one reason that it's so hard to pass school levies. Many voters either have no children or are sending their kids to private schools, religious or otherwise. The logic here is that they derive no real benefit from public schools, so why should they have to support them? It's warped. And the state where I live has a screwy setup about dispersal of state funding (Ohio) so it's a real catch 22
@Wolleysegap @lovelylovely @CaffeinatedKayla this is a problem in our school dist. and our state…we have a large number of ret. people who vote no to any levies for the schools. Their kids are grown, and they are retired, so they don’t want property taxes to go up any more. Now with the FuckSander’s new vouchers for private schools, the small school districts are doomed while the private Christian schools will grow. This has been the goal of the GQP for years.

@johnettesnuggs @Wolleysegap @CaffeinatedKayla

It's very bizarre thinking making no sense.

@lovelylovely @johnettesnuggs @CaffeinatedKayla There are people who do not see that education is key to growing the local economy. They have theirs, and others never get any, tough luck. They would literally rather build new prisons than new schools
@Wolleysegap @lovelylovely @CaffeinatedKayla these are the people who still don’t like brown people being educated, or women for that matter.
@lovelylovely @Wolleysegap @CaffeinatedKayla it makes terrible sense if you know the Christian private schools were mostly created in the 70s & 80s as a reaction to Brown vs Board of Education by racist fu@kers who didn’t want their little darlings sitting next to brown people in class, wanted to keep power in the hands of a few rich white people (men), & to be able to teach them crap like the Earth is only 3K years old & “God created Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve…”
@johnettesnuggs @Wolleysegap @lovelylovely @[email protected]’m retired, on fixed income, and our kid is grown & graduated. I vote in every election and volunteer in most (currently helping Ann Aagaard run for city council). It benefits us all to have a well educated populous. It helps me, helps the entire society to function if your kids get a great education. Nobody benefits when kids can’t learn.
@RoverStoker @johnettesnuggs @Wolleysegap @lovelylovely exactly! Kills me to see it happen. Critical thinking, problem solving and creativity are being squashed. Thats why elons train of thought kills me. Most #childfree people I know are highly supportive of funding for public schools are libraries, free lunches, assistance programs to struggling parents etc to assist in helping kids have the best chance. So why the hell should or votes not count?
@CaffeinatedKayla @johnettesnuggs @Wolleysegap @lovelylovely Ya’ know who votes in every single election? Olds like me. While we’re not all conservative many of us are. Young & younger people must not only make it a habit to vote but vote in every single election; midterms, primaries, the odd special elections, vote every single time. The further down the ballot the closer it is to you. Think globally, vote locally.
@johnettesnuggs @Wolleysegap @lovelylovely that's terrible. My husband and I are #childfree by choice, but still vote for schools. I hate seeing what's been done to public education and the lack of support and resources for the next gen and their teachers.
@CaffeinatedKayla @Wolleysegap @lovelylovely we are empty nesters…& I taught up until last year, Anyone who believes kids can’t get a quality education at public schools in Arkansas is full of sh!t. Both of my boys graduated from a small school, they went on to college, then grad school. One is a lawyer, passed the bar first time, & the other has a system engineering undergrad, but has decided to go back to med school, & just finished the prerequisites to do that.
