Honestly, I saw a pretty good argument there, and a similar one here, about how Mastodon will never get mainstream acceptance/become the dominant app and, like, yes? Okay? So?
It doesn't need to be THE app in order to be useful to its users--just enough people to build and sustain a community.
ektotherm@etherdiver Exactly. There are plenty of people here, and posts get a lot of engagement. I still hear people wondering if Masto will reach critical mass, but like... it already *has* critical mass. It's thriving.

@Jazman it's... Kinda lame? Seems like *just* the people from Twitter who spend all their time trying to show off how cool/clever/detached they all are... Vibe is way off for me. If a ton of my old Twitter peeps weren't there, it would be absolutely valueless for me. But I can't convince them all to come here, so I'm keeping a foot over there as well.
