NEW: Young adults told us making friends IRL is getting harder. Apps like Bumble BFF and Meetup fill the gap during bouts of loneliness. But actively seeking friends as an adult still comes with shame and stigma, they say.

While dating apps made the jump from niche to normal, online friend-making has lagged behind. Why is it normal, and even noble, to hunt for romance but weird to hunt for friends?

@tatumhunter Seems like our experience on Bumble is a bit unique 😅. I still think it feels weird to swipe right for friendship. But since joining a coworking space, a run club, and picking up pickleball, I've had more issues finding the time to recharge my social battery.
