The basic mastodon app is not great. Try out some of the third party apps. You can pin messages on most third party apps but can't except on web with the default app.

Follow @feditips for beginner guides and helpful advice.

Use! Hashtags! You can track hashtags for activity.

Boost > favorite. Boosting is much more potent cuz there's no algorithm.
