What convinces you that the human brain is electrochemical and not quantum mechanical the most?
@GeorgeStyles if quantum mechanics underlies classical mechanics, then the brain/consciousness is unambiguously 'quantum mechanical'.
Now, I don't think consciousness *requires* quantum weirdness. I find Hofstadter's GEB pretty convincing that it's just 'the right sort of feedback loop' that we're experiencing.
But that also isn't evidence that quantum behaviors aren't part of the conscious process we know so intimately.
