Is this still a thing? Doesn’t the #airtag make sounds when it’s too far away from your #iphone.

Apple and Google are working together to limit AirTag stalking

Apple and Google have partnered to create a proposed industry standard that combats “unwanted tracking” with Bluetooth tracking devices, like the Apple AirTag.

@roterpandabaer no, it doesn’t, by itself. How it works is if you lose it, you can trigger a sound to play. If it’s being used to stalk someone, it will notify them via a notification on their iPhone if they have an AirTag following them for a certain amount of time or distance.
@k3yword well i just speaking from my memory. Because when I switched to an Androidphone for a couple of months and sold my Iphone (airtags were still connected to my account) they startet to make sounds as soon as they got moved. But that could be because it was too long disconnected from the „Mothership“ Iphone
@roterpandabaer could also be battery too. I’ve had several airtags for about a year and a half now, and mine haven’t ever made noise without me making it. I haven’t ever not had an iPhone since I got the airtags, so I can’t tell you for sure if you’re right or wrong.
