@TechDesk this is a batshit crazy take. Equivalating chatbot with a bomb designed to destroy cities says far more about the author than the technology.

@badrs @TechDesk There are more differences than similarities.

But one interesting similarity is the arms race, and how it can go further than anyone desired necessary to begin with.

@gimulnautti @TechDesk How about the car as a more apt analogy? Designed as an interesting toy and valuable tool it completely reformed society in ways that aren't desirable in the long run.
@badrs @TechDesk Yeah, that would work nicely. There are arms races to own a car, produce cars and improve them, and they make people so much more productive that one must race to have a better one in order to not be left behind, while society changes in an uncontrolled manner because people are just concentrating on the running to stay relevant.
