fd2@feditips New to Fedi here. What happens when an instance get deleted? Do users data that are stored on that instance go away as well? How likely is it for an instance to change ownership / get deleted?
FediTips has moved!If you sign up for an instance on https://joinmastodon.org/servers or https://fedi.garden, all of the servers listed have promised to give three months warning if they ever decide to shut down. That gives people time to transfer their accounts elsewhere.
If an instance shuts down, all the data on it is lost, which is why it's important to move your account to another instance before it shuts down.
