マスクはそんな会社を44bで買った。30bは自己資金。残りの13bは銀行から借りてTwitterの負債にした。この負債の利払いは年間1.5b（1950億円）。無借金だったTwitterは何も新しい事業を行なっていないのに巨額の負債を負わされて、6倍ものコストを支払わなければならない会社に転落した。
あの規模のSNSが無償なのはおかしい、なんていう声を見るけれどTwitterよりもずっと規模の大きなFacebookも利用料を払わずに使えているし、TikTokも広告で回っている。広告収入に依存することの是非はともかく、Twitterが無償で使えたのは不思議でもなんでもない。
Twitterが借金まみれの赤字会社になった理由はイーロンマスクの買収が下手くそだった以外の理由はないんだよ。
