So, after messing around with Mastadon for the past few days I think I'm starting to become more comfortable with it!

The way I think about curating my own experience is as followed if it helps anyone else~

1: Find people to follow
2: Find more people to follow from those initial follows
3: Follow hashtags I'm interested in
4: Follow more people who participate in those hashtags
5: Find more hashtags I hadn't thought about from others posts
6: Interact and share
7: Return to step 1 and repeat!

@Auri This is actually really helpful for new people coming to twitter and not realizing how this works! I originally thought I had to pick an instance and then that instance is what I’m locked to, which is not the case at all!

Oh! I should have mentioned that instances don't really have any affect on what content you see now that you have mentioned it

@Auri I wonder what happens if you join another instance? Do you lose the followers you currently have and start fresh or does that carry over

This was an older account I made last year and as such I couldn’t change my handle to what I use officially to rep my brand, but that may not really be an issue in the long run

I'm not too sure actually! I have seen that there are options to move to a different account or for moving from another account so perhaps that way your follows would carry over? Just a guess though... wonder if the mastadon help site mentions that.
