#writing so I'm looking to restart my writing aspirations on here. I very much want to write serialised short stories, and I'm very lost on how to publish it. Do I have a patreon, or do I charge for access?

Where are people at with how they want to pursue this whole writing gig in this new space and just how do we navigate this change?

I'd love people's opinions here. Because I'm very curious to see how this goes.

@zibidicemil I'm publishing my serial fiction (once I'm done writing it) on my blog/BuyMeACoffee. Granted, I'm making it free to read because well...I want people to read it and don't have much of a dedicated following or anything. 😅
My thoughts are this: you have to be willing to give some things away for cheap/free. A $1 tier for access to locked posts is pretty common in the game modding community, so eventually that may be an option I take. When it comes to non-serialized works, I think offering a free plain-text version is a good idea. It's what I plan to do with my novel at this point; a free plain-text version, a $5 formatted epub version, and then a print-on-demand option.
Also think it largely depends on your monetary goals with writing. I want it to be my primary source, but also know it takes time to build that, so being willing to give some things away in the beginning is helpful. Though it won't make bank initially, I think we all gotta think of a longer timeline now. 🤷‍♀️
@Byrdbrnz I think we're thinking along similar lines. I largely agree with what you're saying, for me I think we need to put together good writing, but also, we've got to make ourselves and our commentary part of the package.
