If the French #Police will go round dressed provocatively and in high performance cars with attention seeking lights and sirens they're only going to inflame the situation. Reckless.

@Lazarou Okay. My practical question (and I'm sympathetic to the cause, btw) is this: What do people expect the police to do when they are witnessing arson and looting right now? Just...let it go? Let people just destroy stores, put others out of a job, burn entire city blocks. Just..stand aside?

What do they do if some people start assaulting women because they're just "pissed off at the system”? Just..stand there doing nothing? What?

What's the actual practical solution?

@summeremacs @Lazarou
"Looting" is the purpose of the entire global economy, and the seething societies shaped by it...why so concerned when the looted loot back?
What "cause" is it you're "sympathetic to", btw?

@CrypticCatfist @Lazarou I'm sympathetic to the calls that the police have sometimes used incredible amounts of excessive force. I am not sympathetic to targeting innocents in response.

From your statement, I suppose that if my store were looted and burned, my feelings of anger would be justified in looting and burning HLM buildings as a response? Would that be ok? Or, are my feelings less *valuable* than the feelings of others when determining what is a crime?
