@downey Elon has done a lot to redistribute his wealth by donating it directly to Twitter shareholders.

@downey There's some astonishing maths going on.

Apple is, to my astonishment, the "world's biggest company by market capitalization".

It hit $1 trillion for the first time in 2018.

Then $2 trillion in 2020.

Then it became the first company valued at $3 trillion in 2023.

That rate of rise is insane.

There are only 9 companies in the world > $1 trillion. Tesla is on that list. Not Volkswagen.

This is imaginary wealth. What happens when we stop believing this crap?

@downey what we're witnessing/living through is absolutely obscene!

@downey

it is called cancer and its terminal

@downey

it is called parasitism and it kills the host

@downey

they have succumbed to a mindset where “winning” means earning enough money to insulate themselves from the damage they are creating by earning money in that way. It’s as if they want to build a car that goes fast enough to escape from its own exhaust.

The super-rich ‘preppers’ planning to save themselves from the apocalypse

Tech billionaires are buying up luxurious bunkers to survive a societal collapse they helped create, but like everything they do, it has unintended consequences

@downey I think one of the best ways ppl could say F.U. to Elon, and even to the rest of em, is leaving Twitter.
@downey 100%. It's grossly and inhumanely obscene.
People egging them on for stunts like this (PIC) is what’s nauseating. Wait for the fanboys come up with posts like, “What marketing geniuses!!”. :barf bag please: 🤮
@downey Thank goodness it's trickling down, though...
@rebecca_meadows @downey _something_ is trickling down……
@downey And we should be armed...
@downey i'd feel better if more of us poor folks fought back. but by and large we're too busy trying to stay alive and sheltered for this kind of nonsense, and neither the rich nor the press pay us any mind.

@downey

So they could remain billionaires and between them give $10,000 to every one of 33.5m poor, hungry or ill chlidren who could well die in pain.

But they chose not to.

Guess what I wish for.

@downey

To make the arithmetic plain:

Zuckerberg’s increase is 6.8 million years of minimum wage work

@downey

Wayament.... wasn't MusKKKrat gripping hard recently about how he was "forced" to pay $11 billion in taxes last year?

Which amounts to....less than 5% of his total wealth?

My last year of employment as a $16/hour stocker, I ended up paying 18% of my gross pay in Fed taxes.

Whose "fair share" exactly??

@downey the rich get richer on the backs of the working class. It’s time everyone stood together & brought the countries to a standstill
