@bumponthewire @MartinStendel
People that dismiss the importance of the world's largest economy being a democracy or that try to assert that the U.S. is getting worse and not better are not good students of history.
It's not a straight line towards justice for all, but as MLK Jr. stated so eloquently, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” Of course, how long that arc is depends on the efforts of our citizens to shorten, or lengthen it so it's more sinusoidal.
@GreenFire @MartinStendel idk it just doesn’t seem like it right now with all the fascists trying their hardest to tear the US apart.
The US has been, and can be a force for good but we have a metric ton of dirty laundry.
@GreenFire @MartinStendel this is why I don’t intend to leave the United States and I still vote I have not given up on our country. I just can’t in good conscious celebrate when I feel we have so much work to do in order to better ourselves.
In fact I think the best thing we can do this 4th of July is call out where we see problems and point out what can be done to improve, which is the patriotic thing to do.
