Yes, the Court’s affirmative action decision is worse than you thought.

The Supreme Court’s Conservatives Are Breaking History and Our Future

Perhaps the most grotesque aspect of the affirmative action opinion lies in its effort to drain the moral and legal force of Brown v. Board of Education.

@ifilljustice This is a very powerful, insightful and disturbing assessment. The GOP majority on the #scotus should be impeached or at minimum made a minority by expansion.

@ifilljustice Every word true.

I'm frightened and so angry. And yet, what can we do? Vote yes. Of course.

But unless one of them retires, is charged and convicted or dies, they'll just march on. Destroying decades of work and progress.

@mcahalane @ifilljustice

We can't do much. But our elected representatives can do a lot.

The magars on the court are exceptionally thin-skinned. So they really feel it when they are criticized.

If he wanted to, Durbin could convene a series of prime-time hearings to air all their dirty laundry. Just bully them relentlessly. We might get lucky and one or two could rage-quit. But even if they don't, it would serve the purpose of building public support for court expansion and electing more Ds

@ifilljustice this is such a profound, if terrifying, reflection on the impact of this decision. I’m thinking of Sarah Huckabee Sanders invoking Rev Dr MLK Jr after the decision and how the court has done to Brown what white America has done to Dr King — stripped the meaning, purpose, and critical analysis, and left a hollow aesthetic shell to be used as a weapon against that same meaning, purpose, and critical analysis
@ifilljustice From an education perspective, the ruling benefits no one. There are no true “best colleges.” There are the colleges that can best serve the individual needs of a given student. There are the groups of students that a college believes will allow them to do the most good. A rejection letter should be seen as the college’s apology that it cannot serve. Any tool removed that restricts their ability to prepare all students to be in and shape a just world weakens all acceptances.
