Good observation
@vowe H2 of 2024 says #HoldMyBeer - this might still be the year in which we get to experience social media transforming into millions of AI bots politely spreading misinformation mostly to each other. #PeakBullshit?
@vowe Don't quite agree. THIS here is awesome and it will be even better.
The parallel Internet of bullshit is at its peak, but it will decay for sure. Open services and standards will prevail.
@vowe Definitely not. The 2010s were actually the darkest ones so far imho. Where you gave away the internet to Google, Facebook and alike, and nobody was even wondering. Now is the time where you learn some lessons. Admittedly, not because you became smarter, but because the pressure increased. But anyways, it's a veeery good trend. Let's continue _that_ for some more time!!!
@vowe Just your employer still has not tuned in to that trend, still getting more and more disappointing every day... But, well, it gave me a chance to learn *my* lesson, i.e. looking for more interesting places to find IT news and information (which is not the same as Netflix announcements).
@vowe mastadon is what twitter/reddit should have been.
@vowe well twitter would be at war if they could get it to work again

@vowe

Greed is not good. Money, like religion, corrupts people, institutions, and corporations.

@vowe Stackoverflow is at war with its users and moderators too. If big tech continues with business as usual, they'll soon struggle to find enough capable developers.
@vowe Actually I've been saying we might be seeing the end of a social media golden age.
@vowe Sad to think that was the best we were going to get :/
@vowe Yeah, enshittification is in full swing

I feel like my generation experienced Peak Internet and we’re now on a downward trend. Google Search sucks. You can’t trust Amazon ratings. Twitter & Reddit are at war with their users. Every useful news site is paywalled and every garbage one is free. Turns out 2010s were the good old days.

mas.to
@vowe Actually he means only the so-called "social media" (and not the WWW and for sure not the Internet) ...

@vowe Amazon lost my business when they decided to f around with returns.

I accepted that reviews were bought, but only when i knew if I got played there would be a way to undo the purchase.

It's sad that Walmart's version of Prime is less hostile to returns with fewer organized fake review rings distorting things.

@vowe As for Google search, I'vd been using DuckDuckGo forever. Rare that I will feel a need to use Google search.
@vowe Peak Internet was 1990-1993, before the wheels came off Usenet.
