this guy is seriously not suggesting what i think he's suggesting, is he? #twitter
@ChrisPirillo I’m in the 300 camp then. I’ll pause my use of Twitter for the foreseeable future.
@ChrisPirillo thinking about how inflated the view counts are I wonder even when “read” is registered? Like if I load the page and don’t scroll down does it count me for one read or r 10 read
@ChrisPirillo There was an interesting post where people were bumped from the Twitter Community because they had blocked elon previously.
@ChrisPirillo It just doesn't make sense. I get sometimes we have to put the phone down and live in reality but it just feels like it goes against the principal of what Elon was narrating from the beginning 🤦
@ChrisPirillo Create a lot of users just for reading?
@ChrisPirillo Funnily, as a regular account I cannot read anything beyond first posts in threads, no replies, not even the posts I myself replied to when I get a like on my reply. Completely broken.
@ChrisPirillo The days of free social media are dwindling sadly.
@Manzella @ChrisPirillo I disagree, I think this will only make the internet more open. The big cooperations will be unable to compete with the fediverse and other free and opensource projects, because they don’t have to make profit.
@thekingoflorda @ChrisPirillo I hope that's the case. But as we see on Mastodon, Getting people to join is tough.
@ChrisPirillo Is an advert a post? That’s me down to 3 a day.

@ChrisPirillo Is this what he means by extreme levels of data scraping? 😂

“Twitter is firing off about 10 requests a second to itself to try and fetch content that never arrives because Elon's latest genius innovation is to block people from being able to read Twitter without logging in.

This likely created some hellish conditions that the engineers never envisioned and so we get this comedy of errors resulting in the most epic of self-owns, the self-DDOS.”

Attached: 2 images This is hilarious. It appears that Twitter is DDOSing itself. The Twitter home feed's been down for most of this morning. Even though nothing loads, the Twitter website never stops trying and trying. In the first video, notice the error message that I'm being rate limited. Then notice the jiggling scrollbar on the right. The second video shows why it's jiggling. Twitter is firing off about 10 requests a second to itself to try and fetch content that never arrives because Elon's latest genius innovation is to block people from being able to read Twitter without logging in. This likely created some hellish conditions that the engineers never envisioned and so we get this comedy of errors resulting in the most epic of self-owns, the self-DDOS. Unbelievable. It's amateur hour. #TwitterDown #MastodonMigration #DDOS #TwitterFail #SelfDDOS

@ChrisPirillo
Ppl i know are getting "rate limit exceeded" messages when they scroll down too far. my expectations were low but holy moly😂
@ChrisPirillo it feels a lot like “how do we make this seem intentional”
@ChrisPirillo It seems to me that he’s suggesting we either pay up or leave Twitter. As is evidenced by the fact that I just set up my new Mastodon account, I’m leaning towards the latter.
@ChrisPirillo he has inadvertently created the weird ending of Ready, Player One where they limit usage in the virtual space.

@ChrisPirillo It only takes about half an hour to run up an “exceeded your limit” of 600 views cutoff.

A ‘Genius at work’ strategy to maximize advertising revenue! Eliminate doom scrolling and power users. Now no one will see the ads sellers purchased. El*n, what a mook!

@ChrisPirillo

It's because he try to run Twitter on a single RaspberryPi 4

@ChrisPirillo While I can still see my feed, it's pretty much all comments about this situation now.
@ChrisPirillo Aaaaasnd he's still pushing people toward an overpriced service with no redeeming features. No surprises here!

@ChrisPirillo

To be fair, I do think reading 600 posts a day on Twitter is probably 600 posts a day too many.

@ChrisPirillo what a plus for advertisers, a huge reduction of who can see their ads 🤣
