Worth noting: if you like something you read online that was written by a human, SHARE IT.

That's the best way to fight back if you hate the way our digital overlords are ruining discovery & overloading everything with AI-generated bullshit.

Also: do not think that your followers will abandon you if you share good things. From experience, I assure you that sharing good things INCREASES your social capital and BUILDS your follower count and loyalty. Cast your bread upon the digital water, etc.

@gregpak I’ve been trying to be better about that. Used to do it all the time in the halcyon days of the internet but just drifted away. Now it’s more important than ever. Also trying to do more “content” off the social media sites and my own stuff
@gregpak i used ai for covers but they can’t be gotten by prompts. Guess I should write a doc saying how I got it then or something

@gregpak Wait, do you two know each other? @MarkStout.

If not, Greg Pak, please meet Mark Stout, my JHU adviser. Mark, please meet Greg Pak, talented author extraordinaire.

@gregpak One issue is I hesitate to plug anything even if it is human made, because of weird issues with self promotion on mastodon.

I got to wonder if Mastodon socials thing about self promotion is intentional?

@LWFlouisa I don't worry about it. I figure if people are following me, they wanna hear about my stuff & the stuff I like, and they can unfollow if they don't, totally cool.

@gregpak

I can sincerely agree, that this is the way.
