Can’t view tweets without being logged in and now can’t read too many when logged in. It’s crumbling.

Reddit and Twitter were very centralized locations for information sharing. I hope people invest more in info sites and blogs again. #twitter #DecentralizedWeb

LMAO IT GETS WORSE AND WORSE
This is why I love that sites like HackADay exist. Taking projects and info that often only otherwise live on fleeting social media platforms and giving them at least SOME longevity
@EposVox you mean BETTER and BETTER. Been grinning like a fool at this.
@EposVox or at least their own mastodon instances
@lashman that doesn’t fix the massive disappearance of information from search results and public view. Hosting information and answers on social media was always a problem, putting it on Mastodon is not making anything better whatsoever. It’s far less searchable than traditional social media
@EposVox [alt text] A tweet from Elon Musk: To address extreme levels of data scrapping and system manipulation, we've applied the following temporary limits:
- Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day
- Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day
- New unverified accounts to 300/day
@efyre @EposVox thank you for the alt text!
@EposVox I miss the days of finding a fan site website with a good and active message board
@EposVox lol on top of anything else, these limits are laughable

@EposVox the problem is the “underground” culture on decentralized web, some people don’t want it to get popular, see the ones complaining about Meta.

Like Grubber said, it’s time for decentralized web to decide if they want to be open or anti-establishment, you can’t be both

@rosorrentino yeah fuck all that drama. There’s a reason I’m not championing fedi that much

@EposVox It’s funny that you mention blogs. I recently stumbled across a challenge called 100 Days to Offload whose goal is to get people to write 100 blog posts within a year. The point is to get people to write, and start publishing again and I’m considering taking up the challenge. There’s still 183 days left in the year, it’s still doable.

My favorite bit in the challenge description was this:

or links to another post you have found interesting. They could include your own thoughts about that post, or a response to it.

That not only helps you create content and show off another blogger, but it also helps websites get ranked higher within google search results! If it’s done right, that is.

Instead of people quote tweeting, if people blogged about them instead (and linked to the source), I think we’d be in a far better place than we are now.

100 Days To Offload

Can you publish 100 posts on your blog in a year?

100 Days To Offload
@frostyfrog a wonderful challenge. Like NaNoWriMo but for blogging. I might try it a future month
@EposVox
Tbh can't post or like while logged in for me either.
So there's that.
@ftg I... yes..? That's completely different?
